Sugar rules steady in routine trade

Sugar prices on the Vashi wholesale market ruled steady with S-grade gaining ?5 a quintal on the higher side on Tuesday. M-grade was unchanged. Naka and mill tender prices were steady with routine demand – supply and activities. Arrivals and local dispatches eased. Prices in other producing centres ruled at a par with Maharashtra keeping upcountry buying away from here. Producers are continuously selling and hence supply is ample at Vashi. Arrivals were 61-62 truckloads and local dispatches 59-60 loads. On Monday evening, 19-20 mills offered tenders and sold about 43,000-45,000 bags at ?2,360-2,500 (2,360-2,500) for S-grade and ?2,520-2,600 (2,520-2,600) for M-grade. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ?2,482-2,580 (2,482-2,575) and M-grade ?2,582-2,712 (2,582-2,712). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ?2,430-2,530 (2,430-2,530) and M-grade ?2,530-2,670 (2,530-2,670).
