Sugar prices on the Vashi market dropped by ?10-20 a quintal as stockists tried to ease old – fair quality stocks on back of improved retail demand. Naka and mill tender rates were unchanged on routine demand. Sources said retail demand increased while stocks were at Vashi market is about 105-110 truck loads. Arrivals remained stable at 61-62 truck loads and local dispatches were also at 60-61 loads. On Tuesday evening, about 18-20 mills offered tenders and sold about 44,000-45,000 bags at ?2,040-2,190 (2,040-2,200) for S-grade and ?2,170-2,290 (2,190-2,300) for M-grade. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ?2,172-2,325 (2,182-2,345) and M-grade ?2,290-2,582 (2,290-2,602). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ?2,140-2,290 (2,140-2,290) and M-grade ?2,280-2,400 (2,280-2,400).
